GEORGIA SOCIETY OF
HEARING PROFESSIONALS PURPOSE
The Georgia Society of
Hearing Professionals was formed for the following purposes:
- To promote the
hearing welfare of persons with deficient hearing in
the State of Georgia. This goal is accomplished with
public education of the advantages of amplification in
the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss.
- Through membership in
this society, with common goals and the information
exchange available we promote goodwill and cooperation
among hearing aid dealers in Georgia.
- By raising the
standard of care practiced by hearing aid specialists
and providing continuing education opportunities, this
society promotes the highest standard of professional
competency and excellence in serving the hearing
impaired by its members.
- To increase the
publics confidence by supporting and enforcing a code
of ethical practices and business integrity among its
members. This voluntary effort symbolizes the
dedication and concern this society has for the
hearing impaired, the general public and its members.
- To increase the
public awareness of the benefits received from proper
identification of hearing loss and appropriate
treatment with amplification. The improved technology
of today provides solutions to most patients hearing
healthcare needs.
- To provide a unified
voice on the state level and representation with the
IHS for the hearing instrument specialists in the
State of Georgia. The GHAS provides leadership in
building a continually improving force of competent
Hearing Instrument Specialists to meet the needs of
the hearing impaired.
- Communication and
cooperation with the medical profession and other
professionals involved in hearing health care is
endorsed by the GHAS. With improved relations between
all hearing professionals no patient should go without
hearing healthcare.
Georgia Society of Hearing Professionals CODE OF ETHICS
AS A LICENSED HEARING
AID DISPENSER, I PLEDGE TO ABIDE BY ALL FEDERAL, STATE
AND LOCAL LAWS APPLICABLE TO THE DISPENSING OF HEARING
AIDS.
AS A MEMBER IN GOOD
STANDING OF THE Georgia Society of Hearing Professionals, I FURTHER
PLEDGE THAT:
We shall state only
the true facts in our public announcement and
advertising of hearing aids and related products. We
shall not, in any way, mislead the hard of hearing
public in regard to the performance, appearance,
benefits, elements, and use of such products.
We shall provide
thorough and ethical consulting services when we
dispense instruments, including the appropriate
testing and fitting most suitable for the patient/
client's particular type of hearing loss.
We shall, at all
times, provide the best possible service to the
hearing impaired, offering counsel, understanding and
technical assistance contributing forward deriving the
maximum benefit from their hearing instruments.
We shall constantly
encourage and support research, cooperating with
medical and other hearing health professionals and
societies to employ the maximum scientific knowledge
and technical skills in the testing of human hearing
for the selection, fitting, and maintenance of hearing
instruments.
